Regrettably, Fedrick won't be able to make the reunion tonight.  He is asking everyone take a share their pictures (especially the compromising ones!) on FB.  He's hoping to attend the 1978 Class 50th Birthday Party in September!

"Sweet Summer Nights" - July 22, 2010

Steven Fedrick"s latest song "Sweet Summer Nights" featuring the extraordinary vocals of Ann Pendelton Cooper's is 'in the can'  and just in time.  The song was written at the request of Jerry Davis for the upcoming WCHS 1970-1980 class reunion on Saturday July 24.  It should be available to hear soon.  Ann and Steven decided to donate all contributions for it's download to the Noble Scholarship which was recently set up by alum Bob Rouse to honor WCHS's all time favorite teacher Mr. Nbles who retired this year.  Details to follow as soon as they become available.

Song for the Asking - June 27, 2010

Big News in Central Kentucy is the Woodford County Highschool reunion for classmates who graduated 1970-1980.   That's right, a decades long reunion.  Jerry Davis (class of '74) has been pivotal in uploading all yearbooks to Facebook from this period (and beyond) and has been instrumental in providing a meeting place for WCHS alum to reconnect.  Hats off to Jerry for his dedicated work.  He's enlisted the help of a slew of alum (including Fedrick) to write a sort of theme song for this gala event.  A collaberation of this sort with mutliple artist all of whom reside in different locations is daunting but all involved feel something good will come out of the request.

Unfortunately, due to work constraints, Fedrick won't be able to attend this years reunion. Steven looks forward to his next class reunion and has made a personal commitment to attend.

Fedric: the French Connection - May 27, 2010

Fedrick and his  sister and nephews will be meeting his brother David and David's wife Angie at his Mom and Dad's in East Texas this Memorial Day weekend.  Besides Fedrick's niece, who can't make it this year, the core Fedrick clan will be together.   The significance of this reunion grows as both parents turn seventy nine this year.  Family roots will be the unofficial theme of the gathering as Fedrick's dad has found some exciting new information in regards to Fedrick's fore fathers, namely that the first Fedrick to reach American soil was John Fedric (-no k-), who came over with the french general the Marquis de Lafayette to assist George Washington in the American Revolutionary war.   The french connection is exciting for the family.  More to follow after the weekend!

Yellowstone Days - May 24, 2010

Just this weekend Fedrick was excited to hear from an old friends from his Yellowstone Park days.  Fedrick spent the summer of 1981working at Old Faithful Inn's Employee Dining Room.  While he was there he met some of the coolest people on the planet including Kathy M. V.   Kathy found Fedrick on FB, where else.  She shared an awesome pictures of the whole gang which brought back waves of memories.

Happy Mother's Day - May 7, 2010

Fedrick is a huge fan of Mothers.

"I'm blessed.  Like the Energizer Bunny my Ma is still going.  When I recently spoke with her by phone she was laughing and cutting up about cleaning out the garage with my Pa.  In the last fifteen years, Ma suffered substantial health and pain management issues but a several years ago a morphine pump and competent doctor gave her her life back.  She's definately an original, (some might diagnose as a little crazy)but she's the sweetest OCD person you'd ever want to meet, mostly.  My sister and I are going to celebrate Mother's day weekend with her.  No expensive gifts.  Maybe some store bought flowers and brownies and a lot of love.

Bear Tooth Pass Productions wishes all Mothers a beautiful day.  And suggest to all Mother's sons and daughters that Fedrick, not Fred would make a wonderful cross generational gift!   Just saying.

Inspiration Needed Inspiration Sought - April 10, 2010

Despite having a studio full of new state-of-the-art equipment, Fedrick's creativity is blocked.  He's taking this in-between time to catch up on some reading and to explore different aspects of his spirituality.

This included catching the documentary by filmmaker David Grubin, Buddha. It was a sort of primer (Buddha for Dummies, if you will) about meditation, the history of Buddhism, and how to incorporate the Buddha’s teachings on compassion and mindfulness into daily life, perfect for Steven who knew nothing about it.

Fedrick is also reading A Toltec Wisdom Book called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruez and Care of the Soul, A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness In Everyday Life by Thomas Moore.

People who know him haven't noticed any changes yet.

"I don't think he's a pound lighter", stated his manager Diana Lackey.  "However", she noted,  "Fedrick is treating his body more like a split level ranch and less like a greasy spoon/hole in the wall bar.

Stay tuned.  Perhaps when his creative juices start flowing again, we'll hear the influence of his new spiritual growth.

Springtime in Texas - March 29, 2010

Fedrick's observered these past months have felt like a Woodford County Kentucky winter.  Colder and snowier than the usual N. Texas season.    Twelve inches of snow in above freezing temperatures is a down right joyous experience, especially extravagant for Texas.

It's made the Spring temperatures all the more welcome.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - March 17, 2010

Ireland boasts a population of 6.2 million people but today it seems the whole world turns Irish.  Fedrick comes from Irish blood on both sides of his family tree.  His mother's maiden name was Meredith and her mother's mother was Tucker.  Although you might assume as Steven did that the name 'Fedrick' was of German origin, his father's research indicates Fedrick forefathers probably came from England.  His father's mother's maiden name was Burnett and Demsey further back.  All this Irish blood may explain Fedricks affinity for alcohol, green or not.  Happy St. Patrick's Day to Fedrick's friends and fans, Irish or not.

“I believe in the sun when it's not shining, I believe in love even when I feel it not, I believe in God even when he is silent.”

                                                                                                                            old Irish quote

Zoom Zoom ZZZZZ - March 11, 2010

Fedrick's birthday weekend went as expected: a low key dinner with family.  Afterward, Fedrick breathed a sigh of relief.  This major milestone prompted him to take stock and inspired him to move ahead productively.  So, it's back to the gym after work,  boycotting french fries, drinking a quart of V-8, eating Activia, remembering to turn off the lights and even straightening the house.

Bear Tooth Productions is taking odds on how long his self discipline will last.

Birthday Milestone - March 5, 2010

Fedrick will celebrate a birthday milestone this weekend in Tyler Texas with his family.  He's asked that the occasion be kept low key.   This request suits his manager's challanged organizational ability.

"Hopefully, and knowing her", Fedrick stated, "it will be a non-event."

"This last year has been transitional in some ways.  (Cliche alert) My heart attack three years ago gave me a different awareness of my place in the here and now.  This birthday has brought all that into sharp focus again and wacked me in the head besides.  I don't need a lot of hoop-la to know I'm blessed with good friends and family, although cash would be nice."

Happy Birthday, Steven.

Studio Back in Business - February 24, 2010

Fedrick crossed over to the other side this week with his purchase of an iMac.  Why the change?  Years ago, he'd read an article in WSJ about the ease of working with Garage Band recording software which comes standard with the iMac to produce a very sophisticated sound.   At the time he had a PC so he opted to purchase Adobe Audition instead which is the means by which he recorded, mixed and mastered Fedrick not Fred last year.   But Audition's capacity was not matched by it's ease of use.  Fedrick was often frustrated.

"When I discovered my pc motherboard was fried, it was time to re-evaluate my options and visited the Apple Store in Fort Worth.  That synched it.  Apple has a service called One to One which allows you to interface with a live person at the store in real time to learn programs, including Garage Band but goes further and allows you to work on projects at the store with mentors close at hand.

With the purchase of the iMac and the recent purchase of the Boss BR-1200 CD Digital Recording Studio, Fedrick is ready to start recording his second album.

Studio Silenced by Storm - February 18, 2010

A record breaking winter strom blanketed the Dallas Fort Worth area in a foot of snow and left over 180,000 people including Fedrick without electricity.  Luckily, Steven spent the weekend camped out on  his sister's couch.   She lives in the same town but didn't lose her electricity.

"I've never seen N. Texas as strickingly beautiful as it was on Friday morning, February 12.  Before sunrise, the nearby town lights reflected off the cloudy winter sky back onto the snow covered landscape which lit the world in a eerie pinkish glow."

Fedrick returned home after electricity was restored to find the power supply in his personal computer had burned out with the surge.

"My PC is about five or six years old but since it has plenty of memory and I have plenty of patience I wasn't looking to replace it just yet.  But depending on the repair cost, I may go ahead and invest in a new one.  Several friends suggest I look at the Apple IMAC since a PC is the heart of my home studio.

Fedrick is not very concerned about studio down time since lately he's focusing on composing not recording new material.

Pandora Radio Accepts Fedrick not Fred for Review - January 13, 2010

Pandora accepted Steven Fedrick's CD Fedrick not Fred for review today.  What does this mean?  It depends on the outcome.  Pandora is one of the most popular free streaming web radio sites on the web.  They intermingle indie and unsigned artist's music with those of established artist opening up new music to a whole new audience.

"I've put the word out to all my fans to please join Pandora if they haven't already and request Fedrick not Fred on Pandora.  This is an huge opportunity to showcase the CD to a vast market who have never heard of me.  It's an opportunity I've been hoping for."

Bear Tooth Productions and Fedrick are anxiously awaiting the outcome of Pandora's review.   Help if you will.

2010: Year of the Fed - January 10, 2010

"Beartooth Productions may in the midst of negotiations with a major label regarding the signing of Steven Fedrick".   Sources with un-substantiated credibility confirm (albeit unofficially) Bear Tooth Productions is in talks with people who know people who have connections to some of the biggest people in the music industry.

Would Fedrick sign?

"Hell yes", says Fedrick.  "Are you nuts?"

Although Fedrick seems quick to acquiesce to "selling up (out)" , sources close to the alleged negotiations say artistic credibility may be a major sticking point.

"Steven Fedrick may appear to be easy", notes a source close to the alleged unofficial negotiations, "but he has artistic integrity which transcend mere monetary valuation.  Capitalistic?  Perhaps,  but delve deeper, listen to his music, and find a deep and unaffected soul.  For 12.99 on CD Baby."

New York New York - June 29, 2009

Steven and friends flew in from a fantastic extended NY weekend, his first trip to the city. Besides visiting all the iconic landmarks (Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, MoMA, Metropolitan Art Museum, Guggenheim, Times Square, Ground Zero, Brooklyn Bridge, Pier, China Town, and Little Italy), they stumbled on the best meal of the trip at a place between 82 and 83 on 2nd Avenue called Firenze Ristorante. Sunday, they watched Heritage Pride parade from historic Stonewall Inn In West Village. After five days and two shows it was back to DFW where he promptly learned his luggage had flown to TN, the only blemish to a great time.

Fedrick Tsunami ? - June 13, 2009

Just prior to it's official release, Bear Tooth Pass Productions performed focus testing.  The results are in:   Fedrick, not Fred is an overwhelming success*.

Bear Tooth Pass Productions likens the release of Fedrick, not Fred to an ocean floor earthquake.  On the surface, barely a tremor of change is perceived.  However, word of mouth is expected to spread quickly to create a sort of exponentially building wave of support.   BTPP feels it is possible Fedrick's premier CD has the potential to evolve into a tsunami of pop culture success. Fedrick insists his success is measured in his ability to connect with people.  Lackey admitted in all honesty that Bear Tooth Pass Production is more financially motivated.

Lackey insists Fedrick feels success is measured in hi*Statistical analysis could not be scientifically compiled or validated.  As indicated, approval rating for this CD covered all demographics.  Generation X, the "Me" geners, and the boomers agreed: Fedrick, not Fred is universally a good CD, and in many. if not most cases more superlative adjectives were indicated (i.e. "awesome", "excellent", "amazing", "unbelievable") .  The universality of the response transcends age specific trends.  Focus group members were made up of friends, co-workers and family members of Steven Fedrick.

CD Post Production Party - May 24, 2009

Bear Tooth Pass Productions raided their petty cash drawer in preparation for the premier CD Release Party for Steven Fedrick's album Fedrick, not Fred. Exclaimed BTPP Artist Rep Diana Lackey, "I've never seen management this excited. With the recording industry basically at death's door and the economy itself in the shitter, to discover a major new talent, well, it's like finding the keys to your parents liquor cabinet when your fourteen.. Start pouring!”

Move over Susan Boyle. Not only is Fedrick equally as attractive,  he's also a man.

An unnamed BTPP representative states, “ While venture capitalist and hedge fund managers have been investing in credit swap derivitives and other questionable assets, we are committed to bringing “family values” talent like Fedrick's into popular culture in a structured and conservative way. We have complete confidence in his talent which is why we insisted he self-produce his first effort. Creative control supersedes production knowledge and it shows in this his premier effort.”

“It's amazing”, states Lackey. “Once the word on, Fedrick, not Fred is out, sit back and watch the next 'brilliant breakout' burst into popular culture."
